Doppelgänger, literally translated means "double-goer". The word is generally used to refer to a living double of a person. In the context of this program, the person is instead a software application, or rather a "living-copy" of a software application.

The inspiration for this project came from my day job where I was tasked with creating installer packages for applications which we modify with KeyServer. To create a working copy of an application, all the little bits and pieces need to be gathered off of the hard drive. After doing this manually for a long time I thought there had to be a better way. There wasn't, so I committed myself to creating a better way. Thus Doppelgänger was born.

The Doppelgänger logo was inspired from an old DOS selection string *.* In this case the dot is the hole in the center, and there's only one asterisk ( because it looks better that way.)
